The Queen Bee

The challenge this week at Dutch Dare is Distressing.
The situation is not distressing, the challenge is distressing!
So if life is stressful de-stress by di-stressing your paper!
It is a bit fun taking it out on the poor paper!
(Sorry, I fear this could be a silly post!)
That can be with inks or distressing the paper.  I chose to distress
the paper.  Very easy.  Give it a try and join us this week!

OK, I was told by a close friend (I won't mention Dorcas' name!!)
that some things are better left unsaid.
Well, I have this need to tell everything! Silly or not! So here it goes.
This card is an anniversary card for my mother in law and her husband.
I have to disclose her name for this to make any sense.  Her name is Deborah
or Debbie and their last name is King.  Because Debbie, means "bee"
she loves bees and has been known to say "My name is Deb-bee bzzz bzzz"
I think this is the part of the story I am supposed to leave out! LOL!
So for a few years now, I have found items that have a bee in it, as well as
a crown, which fits well with the name king, and they both are happy.
I don't normally put two fancy embellishments next to each other,
but for the circumstance it worked out.
Close-up of crown and bee (Could be a fly, but we are going to say
a bee or this whole story does not make sense!)
Different view to show the distressing

A Purple Frenzy

I needed to make a sympathy card and was going to go a different route, when I saw this color inspiration from The Playdate Cafe!  It looked so pretty I had to try it! It was much harder than I thought to make these colors work.  I had a whole different thing
going on in the front and hated it. Almost chucked the whole thing.  Then took it apart and came up with this.
These Martha Stewart Die Cuts are so handy.  Saves the day every time! You'll be seeing a lot of them I
used them in several of my recent cards. (Not yet posted) I have been very busy.  I am making a gajillion cards, then will be busy making 4 scrapbooks for my nieces and nephew.  So no cards for a while! :(
I made enough to post every so often just in case you'll miss me.

Another Sympathy card for a friend.  You will be seeing a few of these too.  Several deaths recently!

These Boots Are Made For Walking!

It is sketch time this week at Dutch Dare!
This sketch was designed by my bestest buddy Dorcas
(You can reclaim your title girlfriend!)
Please hop on over and join us in the fun!
We would love to see your take on the sketch!

I had the hardest time with this card, but am very happy with the
end results!  I had  a vision in my head and it was not
coming out like I had planned.  A friend of mine
gave me a whole bunch of her shoes, due to the fact
that she had twins and her feet grew and she could no longer
use them.  It was awesome!  My husband brought them
home one night and lined them up nice and pretty
for me so when I woke up SURPRISE!!  It was a happy day!
I got the sleep out of my eyes quickly that morning!
Anyway, I had this image in my head of the card I wanted to make.

I had a gazillion wonderful shoe images
downloaded, but could not make them work! I had these
wonderful leather looking papers and thought I would paper piece.
Wasted some very pretty paper! Then I tried embossing, not
working.  Then I tried just cutting the digis and tracing it on the paper.
It started to come together.  Worked great for the boot.  The shoes
were lacking something.  Then I remembered I have the
Forever Young Cricut Cartridge that has shoes! That
could have saved me oodles of time, paper and just hassle!
After I had remembered that, It started to come together
and  it pretty much came out like the vision in my head.
Love when that happens!
