In the Garden

Colour Create

Our challenge this week at
Sentimental Sundays is Garden Party
(Anything you might find in your garden)
Right now my garden is mostly weeds, so the pictures
in these pages are before blogging, when I actually
did yard work and household chores! Anyway, please join us this week and show us what is in your garden!

I mentioned a few months ago that I was working on
finishing the scrapbooks I started for my Nieces and Nephew. After my Nephew was born, I started a book for him, and the theory was every time I saw him I would add a few pages to it. Then his sister came along, and I made when one for her, then a cousin came along and I made one for her, then her sister came along, and I was incredibly behind. They all knew they had books, but were wondering if they would ever get them back. With 11 years worth of
pictures, and four kids, I was beginning to wonder the same.
Then we had a family day where we give the kids
a bunch of presents and have a fun day, so it was a perfect opportunity to finish the books to give them as presents.  It was a tremendous amount of work, but so worth it in the end. My husband even pitched in and helped. He probably does not want the world to know that, but I could not have done it without him. It turned out to be almost 400 pages. They are a bit simplistic, since they are for kids, but they are very happy with them. If I ever get to do some books for me, I will do fancier layouts. I will show more pages from time to time, now that I have permission from their parent's to share. Just won't bore you with all 400 right now.
City Crafters
The story behind these pages is that when we
moved to our property in 2006, each of the kids planted a tree that was their tree to take care of when they visited us. They also painted rocks in their favorite colors and made stepping stones with their hand print in it. We live 3 hours away, so we do not get to see them as much as we would like. They each come and stay with us in the summer for 4 or 5 days.
They love to water, weed, and take care of their trees.
It has been fun watching the trees grow with them. They are now much taller than the kids.

I liked reading the stories too! Always thought the tree idea was fabulous, wished we'd thought of it with Tweet but I guess it wouldn't have done any good what with moving to and fro.
Great layouts!

Stacey this is beautiful. I'm sure they don't mind at all how fancy the pages are. I did photo albums for my twins and they love them, and they were nowhere as pretty as this. Love the colors. The children really have grown. It's neat to see that growth next to the trees. Hugs, dj

I know what you mean about being behind on pictures. THe kids are 13 and 9, and I haven't put a photo in an album in YEARS, let alone scrapbook them! LOL

And I also can relate about gardening and housework...before blogging/cardmaking came along!
