The challenge this week
at Dutch Dare is Clean & Simple
If you are like me, that is a challenge because
I love layers, and lots of lace and lots
embellishments. I held back as much as I could.
Please join us this week and show us
your version of Clean and Simple.
Sympathy cards are very difficult to make.
I had a bunch to make so in order not to get
too hung up on it, I found if I either went for what paper I was in the mood for, or what style I
knew the recipient liked, I was able to keep going.
I know it is not traditional, but, I get stuck
if I think about it too much. I apologize if it is offensive. I always try to make my cards respectful
for the occasion and the person receiving them.
I have received comments about my color choices
not being appropriate for sympathy cards
again, I apologize!
I saw this card a few months ago, on Fiona's
blog and fell in love with it, so I had to
case this beauty.

Ribbon: Pink-Misc from A Moore $1 bin Black Velvet: Celebrate it
Sentiments: Deepest Sympathy- Create W/ TLC The rest from the computer.
Flowers: From a bouquet I dissected and blk ones from wedding section at Michael's.

Stacey the card is beautiful. There is nothing to say that a card can't have color because of a death. In many cultures people have celebrated death. I know you would never give a card to someone if you didn't think it was appropriate. It really does depend on the person. Hugs, dj
I agree. Its all about knowing your audience. I think it came out lovely, Stacey. And if anyone says otherwise you just have them come talk to me! *rolling up sleeves*. LOL
What a nice card! I found your blog after reading about your blog candy and I'm so impressed with all your wonderful cards.
I am well-stocked (over stocked) in craft goodies, so I did not sign up for your Candy, but I am now happy to be a new follower and think your ideas and wonderful designs will be inspiration to me in my card-making.
I'm also a HUGE fan of the Color Purple and absolutely LOVE the wonderful images you have on your front page -- especially those delightful purple roses!!!

Hi Stacey. What! You have people complaining about your colours! Ignore them is what I say. You know what one certain person might appreciate. I can't see what is wrong with your colour choice anyway. Why not a touch of colour? Lovely card.

I think you can use some colours even if it's a sympathy card. I don't understand what's wrong with that. I guess it depend on the person.

I like your card design a lot!! Pink/white/black is a color combination I really love!!
To me (as a European) pink on a sympathy card is very audacious... (I hope this is the word that tells you in English what I mean in German)...we have mostly black, dark blue or earthy colors on those cards...
Perhaps that´s the difference to the "new world" (America) - things are a bit more conservative here in the "old world" (Europe) ;-)

You know what came to my mind when I saw that this is a sympathy card... "I am glad you are dead" LOL I actually really love this card. I love the black and white with bit of light pink. It looks perfect. Love the pearl brads/flower centers too!
