Butterflies & Caterpillars

While we are in invitation mode...
Since I showed you my invitations of the girls slumber party in my last post, I thought I would share the ones I did of their party over the summer.  I mentioned in a previous post that I hosted a party for the younger girls in our congregation. It was for them to benefit from the experience of our older friends. We called it the Butterflies & Caterpillars or Roses and Rosebuds Party.  It was very lovely. Everybody brought baby pictures and we had guess whose they were. The butterflies sat on one side of the table and caterpillars on the other side and they had 5 minutes to ask lots of questions and get to know one another. They also brought each other gifts. Then the butterflies all wrote down a task they need done and something they could teach a young caterpillar and the caterpillar drew a butterflies name out of bowl. So in the future they will get together and benefit from each other.

Anyway... this is the invitations I made for them.
I had 12 invitations. We had 16 people total , but fortunately a few were sisters so I only had to make 12. That was plenty! This is the whole process including my messy desk. Once in a while I share!
Warning: Lots of pictures

After all the images are colored and paper-pieced, I cut the die-cut  and lay them all out. This image from Mo Manning was just perfect for this gathering! I often don't have enough of the same paper to make them identical, so I find a paper that coordinates and looks very close.
Then I added the ribbon, bow, & sentiment
Then glued those puppies down, and whala....
12 invitations! If it were only that easy!

The Inside- It included a scripture that showed the preciousness of children and our older friends too.

I posted these baskets on an earlier post. They each received one. The butterflies were given one with teas and magnets. The caterpillars had lotions and lipgloss.

Party Time

It has been exactly one month since my last post. Did you miss me? Better yet are you sick of seeing my last post? I am!!!! I went out of town earlier in the month, and came down with the flu, and have been a bit wiped out since. I took a break from blogging, just couldn't wrap my head head around anything else. I  am so easily distracted, so I had to use my energy on other things.  So anyway, hopefully I will post a bit more regularly. Please forgive me for not stopping by I have neglected that too. I will be by shortly though. I have been peeking at everyone's awesome projects, Just did not have much energy to comment.

In the summer and often the kid's winter break, I throw a party of some sort for the girls in our congregation, before they go back to school. This winter I got brave and had a slumber party. We had nine girls! There was pizza, dancing, games and lots of fun! It was loud, but lots of fun. Anyway, these are the invitations.  It is a bit of work, but doing it assembly line style, it goes pretty quick.

This is laying them all out, then I attached everything all at once.

Mt attempt at darker skin. Still working on that one.

I am seeing everyone's favorite cards & projects over the past year and I wanted to join in on the fun. I had not been blogging very long last year at this time, and did not have too many cards that I liked. So this year I actually had some projects I am proud of. First I picked 12 cards I like in no particular oder. Then I through in a few of my favorite projects as well.   If you click on each picture it will take you to the post where there are more details.

These are some of my favorite projects this year! They were all quite fun to make!
